Republican Religious Rightist and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee spoke for a half-hour today at John Hagee's famous Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas and said the following:
"You can find Santa at every mall. You can find discounts in every store. But if you mention the name of Jesus, as I found out recently, it upsets the whole world. Forgive me, but I thought that was the point of the whole day."
Bless his heart. He mentioned the name of Jesus and the wrath of the entire world was unleashed upon him! I suppose he hasn't noticed that lefty Democratic presidential candidates have mentioned Jesus some as well.
This imagined war against Christians is just a big right-wing ploy to scare people into voting Republican. For years the right-wingers have harped about how the "religion" of Secular Humanism has become our nation's official religion, that it is taught in all our public schools, that it has been made the law of the land by an activist (and, by the way, Christian) Supreme Court of the United States. Some rather astounding accomplishments for a religion whose adherents probably don't account for even ten percent of Americans.
So go ahead, guys. Play the victim. We know that the true danger is the Religious Right, who would make (Evangelical or Fundamentalist) Christianity the official religion of the United States and thus threaten true religious liberty for everyone else. And if that happens, the rest of our freedoms also will be in trouble.
Exploring the zaniness of the right-wing worldview.

Donja know Republicans OWN Jesus.
I can't fathom how the modern conservatives can reconcile their pro-Big Business and warmongering views with the teaching of Jesus.
